- British Countryside Inn/Tavern

My first proposal is to create a soundscape of someone arriving at a British countryside Inn on a rainy night. The concept of the soundscape will be to convey the events of the evening, and the atmosphere of the Inn. This will include checking into the Inn, getting settled in the room, visiting the tavern. The night will end with retiring to the room, and perhaps a cliff-hanger hinting at the haunting of the building.
I will use found sounds to convey the large old doors, and creaking floors as well as tavern/dining sounds. I plan to create field sounds for the car pulling up on a wet road and knocking at the door, as well as human voice recording for necessary scripted dialogue. Length will be 1.5 to 3 minutes.
2. Snowy Mountainside Cabin

My second proposal is a soundscape of a snowy cabin on an isolated mountainside. The scene will consist of 2 people hiking through the snow with the sounds of crunching snow and wind and arriving at the cabin. Once at the cabin they will take off their winter gear and settle into the cabin, making a fire and fixing some tea. The object is to create the juxtaposition of the cold outside, and then coming in to warm up in the cozy cabin.
I will use found sounds for the wind and snow. I plan to use created field sounds for the tea making, taking off jackets, etc. I will use recorded human voices to help create the scene. Length will be 1.5 to 3 minutes.

In this exercise I learned how to add files to Audition, use basic keyboard shortcuts. I practiced cutting sections , adding background noise to cut sections, reducing background noise. I also adjusted volume levels and tried paneling.

In this exercise, I got familiar with using the zoom recorder. I tried out different angles and distances as well as indoor and outdoor recording. I look forward to trying more created sounds.
